In tribute to Joey Jinks
We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Joey Jinks, who passed away surrounded by his loved ones in hospital on 29th May this year.
Joey was a true ray of light and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
Joey was a passionate advocate for person-centred planning and a wonderful champion of Multi Me. We had the privilege of meeting Joey in Sligo last September and interviewing him about his experiences using Multi Me. We are pleased to share Joey's video below as a celebration of his life, spirit, and advocacy.
One of Joey's guiding mottos was:
"Keep calm and rave on."
He also reminded us:
"If you don't live the life you want, then who will?"
These words perfectly capture Joey's determination to live life on his own terms and his encouragement for others to do the same.
Rest in peace, Joey. Thank you for your friendship, your inspiration, and the light you brought into the world. ❤️

Joey Jinks — our beloved Joey Boii — lived his life by his trade mark motto: “Rave On.” And that is exactly what he did!!
Joey you embraced life fully, passionately, and with a positivity that touched everyone fortunate enough to know you. You had the rare gift for making people feel seen and appreciated. You never spoke a bad word about anyone. Instead, you brought kindness, humour, fun and light wherever you went. Creativity flowed through every part of your life. Whether through music, film, parody songs with friends, songs on the keyboard or the incredible art pieces you created and exhibited at Number 45 Art Expos, you constantly entertained and inspired those around you with your wit, imagination and originality. Number 45 became a place you loved deeply — somewhere you could surround yourself with creativity, music, friendship and like-minded souls who understood and valued your spirit.
Music was one of your great loves. You belonged on the dancefloor, always at the centre of the fun, full of laughter and energy, especially at CLUBLANDIA where with your friends you enjoyed every moment — strawberry daiquiri mocktail in hand, with your on-point lip syncing, air guitar playing and signature dance moves.
But what truly defined you Joey was not only your creativity and humour — it was your courage, positivity and outlook on life. In 2023, your life changed dramatically when you returned home after a year in hospital in Dublin where you were surrounded by the constant love of your Mum Kathy, to your beloved Sligo as a wheelchair user. Many people would have focused on what had been lost. But you never did! You refused to live in the past. Instead, you embraced your new life with determination, positivity and remarkable strength.
You regained your health in your new situation, continued setting goals, planning and looking ahead with hope and excitement to the future. You had planned to return to complete your final year in Creative Digital Media at Sligo College of Further Education, having already smashed your first year with glowing results. You were proud of your achievements at Northside Film School, where you completed Level 5 modules in film editing and production with Sinéad, earning the admiration and friendship of everyone there.
You also made a lasting impact through your involvement with Ci Connect as Person Centred Planning Champion and Friend, where you encouraged and inspired others to believe in themselves and pursue their own dreams, just as you pursued yours! Everyone admired you for that and for the person you were. Even during the final months of your life, you never gave up. You never became bitter or disheartened. You continued to dream, to plan, to smile and to inspire. You always looked forward — never back. Joey, you were truly one in a million, if not one in a Gazillion. We will miss your smile, your wit, your creativity, your positivity, your originality and your incredible zest for life.
We will miss your encouragement, your laughter, your dabs, your mottos and the warmth you brought into every room and everyone you came in contact with. But although you are no longer physically with us Joey, your spirit will remain alive in our hearts. Your light will continue to shine through the memories you created, the joy you gave, and the love and laughter you shared with so many. We are all privileged to have known and loved you.
Rest peacefully, Joey Boii. And thank You, we were so blessed to have you in our lives.
